The Focus of My research
Prison interviews took place in eight prisons across two states. I interviewed inmates at all security levels (minimum - maximum) including protective custody units.
I authored/co-authored eleven journal articles and one book (see my publication page) that focus on: prison gangs, inmate culture, violence in men and women’s prisons, and conflict between inmates and prison staff.
In 2022, I co-edited a special edition in the journal, Trends in Organized Crime titled, "When Prison Gangs Become Organized Crime: Studying Protection Arrangements and their Consequences."
I consulted on Civil Case: Spencer v. Washington State, Department of Corrections in April/May of 2023 for the Plaintiff.
In addition to my prison work, I co-authored two articles about Restorative Justice in Yemen and one on social movement organizations in the United States.
Contact me if you have any questions about my work.
