‍Teaching

Overview:

My teaching philosophy centers on helping students gain critical thinking and communication skills.  In recent years, I focused a good deal of attention helping them build their social capital networks.  I always had a “professionalization” lecture in my classes, then I developed a workshop for students and advise students about conducting informational interviews, building professional networks, and preparing for the job market.  This work improved my teaching skills and gave me new ways to connect with students, as a faculty advisor.  

I primarily teach in-person courses but have online/asynchronous courses and hybrid courses as well.  My Student Rating of Instructor score averages at 5.65 on a six-point scale.  I serve as an individualized degree program advisor and conduct prior learning assessments with students.  I have published with MSU Denver Students, giving them an advantage as they apply for graduate school.
